New to Beekeeping?

To keep bees as a hobby can require as little as ten minutes of your time on a weekly basis, from March to September. However, as most beekeepers keep more than one or two hives, a great amount of your time will be required depending on how many hives you have.

Cost also increase as you expand and this should be taken into consideration. If you can make your own hives, it will be advantageous in reducing your costs. But it is advisable to start small, get experience and then expand. So, join your local Beekeeping Association as they will be organising beekeeping courses & demonstrations.

You will find your local association details on the Federation of Irish Beekeeping Association website www.irishbeekeeping.ie
